OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

This is a full (40 hours) non-exempt position. Some local travel is required.

  • We are Waterloo Counseling Center, a nonprofit agency in Austin, Texas that offers mental health counseling to the entire community, with an emphasis on and expertise in serving the LGBTQIA+ community

Who YOU are

  • You have some experience in a nonprofit setting
  • You have a college degree
  • You are curious about people, open to learning new things and able to integrate what you learn into practice
  • You believe that all people deserve dignity, respect and the freedom to be themselves
  • You are confident in being able to serve the LGBTQIA+ community and the diverse universe of people who are part of it
  • You are organized, proactive and flexible
  • You welcome constructive feedback and are able to take direction and follow instructions
  • You can self-direct and manage multiple responsibilities
  • You are resourceful and persistent and look for creative ways to solve problems
  • You are very good with a variety of MicroSoft products
  • You might be bilingual (English/Spanish)

 

What WE need YOU to do for us

  • Be the first contact with the public through the telephone and front desk
  • Support the Executive Director and the board of directors with ongoing and special fundraising, communications and marketing projects such as
    • Helping with fundraising projects and events
    • Updating the website, working on the quarterly newsletter, and creating basic print and digital marketing and fundraising materials
    • Preparing correspondence with funders and donors
    • Assisting with grant billing and compliance
    • Representing Waterloo at community events
  • Be the primary contact with agency vendors and own purchasing and procurement of goods and services
  • Keep the office running smoothly by becoming an expert on our office systems (IT, telephone, copier, building maintenance issues and other logistical concerns) and troubleshooting on your own or with the support of vendors
  • Assist with segregation of fiscal duties (copying checks, preparing deposits)
  • Serve as a backup resource for scheduling client appointments, collecting eligibility information and documents and assisting with preparation of insurance billing information, client data entry into two databases
  • Be able to occasionally work some evening or Saturday hours (and then take off hours during the week)

 

What WE can offer YOU

  • An annual salary of $34,000
  • Health insurance (employee contribution of $50/month) with optional employee paid dental and vision (at 30+ hours per week)
  • Two weeks of accrued vacation the first year, increasing after three years (pro-rated for part-time) and agency holidays
