The Gazelle Foundation is seeking an action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative Executive Director (ED) to take overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Gazelle Foundation’s mission execution, growth and sustainability. S/he will develop deep knowledge of programs, tenets, operations and business plans. This Executive Director role covers a broad range of responsibilities including development, general administration, donor interaction, program services, marketing, event management and resource management. The role will share strategic planning responsibilities with the Foundation’s board of directors.  Working for a small but growing and healthy organization committed to excellence and accountability, the Gazelle Foundation ED will be comfortable balancing hands-on requirements with managing resources and maintaining strategic focus.  This position reports to the Gazelle Foundation President, but is accountable to the entire board of directors.  This is a full-time salaried position. 

Responsibilities include:

Leadership and overall Management

  • P&L responsibility for overall development, operations and events - budget, resources, execution, communications and services
  • Forecast, request and execute staff and volunteer resource management as necessary to meet event, budgetary, and services objectives.
  • Providing a central point of contact for Foundation board and committee members, donors, and interested parties
  • Serve as a member on all committees
  • Build and foster excellent communication between board members, staff and volunteers
  • Manage effective board involvement in all aspects of the Foundation
  • Oversee vendor selection and ongoing evaluation of need and effectiveness
  • Cultivate volunteer relationships to ensure longevity of Foundation
  • Supervise Operations/Events Director, freelancers, part-time employees, interns
  • Interact and coordinate with other entities such as Gilbert’s Gazelles, Gilbert Inc. and other media outlets

Development and Donor Interaction

  • Develop and direct overall development plan including events, grant-writing, annual fundraising campaigns and individual donor management
  • Utilize traditional development approaches as needed to maximize overall outreach.
  • Develop and solicit sponsorship opportunities in coordination with the Operations/Race director for both Run for the Water race and Spring for the Water fundraising event

Program Services

  • Lead program services committee team for building, executing and monitoring water project agreements, payment coordination, scheduling, project forecasting and contractor interaction
  • Travel or coordinate travel as needed to inspect water projects, gather data, and or perform other duties as necessary
  • Coordinate ongoing monitoring of water systems beyond construction with designated contractors


  • Develop, oversee and execute marketing and communications plan for both annual and strategic priorities
  • Representing Foundation at various events and meetings and coordinating speaking engagements
  • Lead communications committee to ensure successful horizontal and vertical implementation of marketing message


  • Ensure planning and coordination of all events is addressed by self, staff, contract or volunteer resources
    • Volunteer coordination for various events and activities
    • Overseeing master schedule of events and communicating to appropriate board and committee members to ensure timeline and deadlines are met
    • Managing/creating event website, communication material, and registration
    • Execution of events and facilitating post-event follow up
    • Event sponsorship sales leadership
    • Represent the Foundation in interactions with sponsors and vendors
  • Creating additional fundraising opportunities


The Executive Director will be fully committed to the Gazelle Foundation’s mission and core values of integrity, sustained transformation and effective stewardship.  Other qualifications include:

  • Advanced degree with minimum 5 years management experience; a track record of effectively leading, scaling and growing an organization
  • Strong development and operational skills
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable and innovative approach to business planning and execution
  • Unwavering commitment to quality and continual improvement
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, budget creation and management.
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
